March Update

Its been too long since the last Blog post as I aim to make atleast one post a week. Been a bit lazy due to playing some new PC games and I haven't taken any good images last weekend.

Taken in Hockham November 2014, Defined competition entry

There was a camera club outing to Lackford Lakes to photograph birds which is genre of photography I don't do simply because I don't have an interest in birds. I wouldn't be able to identify a bird other than a pigeon, duck or crow. Another issue was the lack of equipment needed such as long lenses to get a detailed images.

Out of the hundreds of images taken not one of them were any good. I would need to spend at least £1000 for a Nikon 300mm F4 lens plus a tele converter.  If I had that kind of money I would be buying better quality lenses for landscapes which I photograph far more often, Although the 300mm would be ideal for butterflies.

I have been creating some prints for an upcoming club competition and for the local art gallery. The theme for the competition is our local environment, the rules are the image has to be taken within a 10 mile radius of where the member lives. I have settled on an image I took last November in Hockham Wood that is rich in strong autumn colours. Choosing the open entry was very difficult as I could have used any of the 10 plus images printed but decided on the image taken in Kings Lynn last month.

Not working this coming week so I hope to be exploring the Norfolk countryside as usual. Unfortunately the weather forecast appears to be overcast all week which is a shame as last week was perfect spring.
